A healthy pregnant diet is essential to a healthy nine months carrying around that precious load. Getting informed on what this means exactly, as well as what else is entailed in ensuring the good health and condition of the mother-to-be and unborn baby, needs to be addressed with urgency.

What exactly is a healthy pregnant diet?

One that’s beneficial and can sustain both mother-to-be and baby as it grows and matures in the womb. A diet that will satisfy their many nutritional intake requirements and one that offers a well-rounded and well-planned enriching diet full of the right proteins, carbs and vitamins, a compulsory and very necessary part of a good pregnancy diet.

What does a healthy pregnant diet list contain?

Here are some examples:

foods rich in proteins and vitamins

foods, drink to avoid

foods easy-to-digest

how to eat moderately/portioning and measuring

better ways of healthy cooking

table with your caloric intake

list of essential nutritional supplements

possible allergy foods

planning creative meals

healthy, fun snacks/foods

structured daily menus

nutritional values for meals

This list is by no means an exhaustive list. There’s so much more relevant facts to know and put to good use.

How can you get such a diet list?

It’s as close as your fingertips. I highly recommend that you go online and find a program or guide that you can join which offers a sound diet and exercise program for mothers-to-be.

Choose one that has the best interest of mother and baby at heart and clearly sets out a well-rounded plan of action to remain active during pregnancy months e.g. light and brisk walks in the later stages, and staying well-hydrated by drinking lots of water and liquids throughout the day.

Joining a program will save you the hassle and inconvenience of having to plan menus of your own and will help make your grocery visit easier and faster. Use your imagination to try and incorporate your healthy diet into your family’s weekly menu.

Without a a sensible healthy pregnant diet program, coupled with a sensible exercise plan, you are less able to promote a safe and illness-free pregnancy and safe delivery. Now you’ll appreciate how vital both these are, too vital to leave to guesswork. You’ll be free of worry and anxiety and left free to enjoy this wonderful event in your life!

Healthy pregnant women are conscious of their baby’s health as well as their own. As the title of this article suggests, this won’t be an in depth treatise on nutrition during pregnancy. Instead, I will aim at a few things all healthy pregnant women should keep in mind during their pregnancy.

I am aware of the multitude of women who take their health, as well as the health of their child, very serious, as any healthy pregnant women should. To those of you in this category, I commend and salute you. But I have seen a few simple steps that can be taken with very little effort to help ensure a healthy birth, and a fit mother.

Healthy Pregnant Women Watch the Empty Calories in Junk Foods It’s difficult not to give into the many cravings you might be experiencing during pregnancy, but this is a time to concentrate on highly nutritious low calorie foods. Generally speaking, you really only need an extra 300 calories per day during pregnancy; and this, mostly in your second and third trimesters. Remember, you still want to look good after delivery as well.

Healthy Pregnant Women Watch Their Sugar Intake It’s important to keep you blood sugar balanced during pregnancy. Don’t spike it with gargantuan doses of refined sugars contained in candies, cakes, ice cream and the likes. Get yourself a book with a glycemic index of foods that you can refer to.

Healthy Pregnant Women Drink Plenty of Water This is one of the most overlooked necessities. You’re going to need more of it during pregnancy. The reasons are way too many to list in just a paragraph. Nothing will hydrate you half as well as water. 100% juice can be used sparingly, but it is no substitute. Stay away from coffee, and drink tea sparingly as it is a natural diuretic. You should be drinking a minimum of 8-10 glasses every day. Try to drink filtered water to avoid chemicals that can be found in tap water.

Healthy Pregnant Women Take a Good Prenatal Daily Supplement Obviously the needs for nutrients increase during pregnancy. Giving birth is probably the single most stressful act you will ever demand from your body. Folic acid, B-vitamins, vitamin C, Calcium, Magnesium, vitamin D and Iron are a few vitamins you will likely need more of. Supplementation makes a difference for both the developing baby and the mother. These are just a few precautions that healthy pregnant women can take, to have a happy and healthy delivery. And be that much closer to getting back into shape after delivery too!

Increasing Your Chances For Conception With A “Getting Pregnant Diet”

If there was a getting pregnant diet that consisted of the foods you could eat that would guarantee pregnancy, most women would definitely go for it the minute they heard of it. And while there isn’t such a guaranteed diet, many women are ignoring the fact that a real “getting pregnant” diet does exist – in the form of eating right and keeping yourself health. Yet, just a few changes in your diet can mean all the difference between difficulty conceiving and a healthy pregnancy. So how does this getting pregnant diet work?

Studies have shown that a healthy diet is directly linked to a lower risk of ovulatory infertility and better overall reproductive health. Eating well also prepares the body for impending conception, drastically lowering the chances of complications during pregnancy. Men have also shown major improves in their testicular health and sperm count with an adjustment in their eating habits.

So what exactly does this diet entail? Surprisingly, it’s nothing beyond what you already know you should be eating. But when conception is at the forethought of your mind, switching to a healthier diet should be right behind it. To start, stick to the 8-8 rule for water: 8 glasses a day, 8 ounces a glass. That means you should be totaling 64 ounces of water per day – and it never hurts to drink more. Of course, the 8-8 rule doesn’t apply strictly to water; contrary to popular belief, juice, soda, and any other liquid you consume counts towards your daily limit. But, with all of the great benefits water has to offer, including a decrease in appetite and overeating, better skin, and better digestive health, it’s not a bad idea to keep water the majority of your overall intake.

Cutting out junk foods is usually impossible for the majority of is, but cutting down isn’t that hard. Don’t forbid yourself the guilty pleasure of a piece of candy or some chocolate ice cream, but indulge in a piece of fruit or some crunchy vegetables before you dive into the sweet stuff. You’ll not only get something healthy in your system first, you’ll have less room to pig out on the bad snacks.

Protein and whole grain carbs are also a big part of the getting pregnant diet. Energy comes from carbohydrates, but most of us consume too many bad carbs throughout the day. Whole grains can cut down on the bad carbs we take in. Protein is always an important staple of any diet, and can not only help with regulation, but help you feel full, longer, which decreases your desire to snack on empty calories.

And last but not least in the getting pregnant diet is the prenatal vitamin. Sure, prenatal vitamins are for pregnant women and the growing baby, but there’s no harm in taking them when you aren’t pregnant. And when you’re trying to conceive, prenatal vitamins can replace your regular multi-vitamin to not only prepare your body for the impending conception, but also decrease your infertility rate by as much as 40%!

One of the things that concerns most pregnant women is knowing which foods are safe to eat and which ones to avoid. Most women already assume that they will need to cut back on, or avoid altogether, things like alcohol, tobacco, and various medications. One food that has led to many questions about its safety during pregnancy is bacon. There is quite a list of foods that need to be cut back on or avoided altogether; so many women would like to know if they need to avoid bacon when pregnant.

So, should you avoid bacon when pregnant? While most health-care practitioners would caution against overconsumption of any one food, they would also likewise counsel that moderation is generally the best course of action. Bacon is actually one of a long list of foods that pregnant women need to approach with some caution. For instance, fish and seafood are generally considered to be healthy foods, but pregnant women need to exercise some caution when consuming seafood because some types contain high levels of mercury, which could be harmful to a fetus.

Women who are wondering if they should eat bacon when pregnant need to bear in mind the following: cured foods like ham and bacon contain sodium nitrate, a substance which may cause cancer. Just because sodium nitrate is present does not necessarily mean you need to avoid bacon when pregnant, however. Most health care professionals would agree that the presence of sodium nitrate in a serving of bacon is generally small enough to not cause any adverse health effects. This could change if you consume large quantities of bacon or other cured meats frequently over the course of your pregnancy. Again, moderation is key.

One thing to consider if you eat bacon when pregnant is the high sodium content. Bacon is one of the more high-sodium foods out there, and if you eat even a little, you might find yourself retaining water to an uncomfortable degree. This is often a problem for pregnant women in particular, since some experience a great deal of discomfort from swelling in her extremities. If this is a problem for you, you may wish to avoid bacon when pregnant in addition to any other high-sodium foods.

Another food-related issue you may wish to consider during your pregnancy is handling and cooking. While it is always important to practice good hygiene in food preparation, this is far more important when you are pregnant, since any illness you might contract as a result of contaminated food could have severe consequences for your baby. So, make sure that food is always handled as cleanly as possible, and that all meats and eggs are properly and thoroughly cooked.

It’s up to you if you wish to avoid bacon when pregnant, but be aware, that it, like many other foods that require caution during a pregnancy doesn’t have to be bad for you. The key is to exercise moderation. It’s fine to eat bacon when pregnant; just don’t eat large quantities of it every day.

While it has been well-known for some time that alcohol consumption can be dangerous in pregnant women, it is still not known just how much alcohol must be consumed before there is danger to the fetus. It’s considered conventional wisdom that pregnancy and alcohol do not mix, but there are a number of health-care practitioners who believe that a small to moderate amount of alcohol consumption when pregnant is not detrimental to mother or baby. So, is it safe to consume alcohol when pregnant? Or should even moderate consumption be avoided, just to be on the safe side?

Pregnancy and alcohol are a controversial topic, mainly because the effects of too much alcohol on fetal development are well-documented and severe. Women who consume alcohol when pregnant need to realize that everything they take in goes directly to the baby as well. The first three months of a baby’s development are particularly critical. If however, you had a few drinks during your early pregnancy, while you were still unaware that you were pregnant, there’s nothing to worry about. It is excessive, chronic drinking that creates the problems.

At this point, those who have researched pregnancy and alcohol have been unable to determine just how much alcohol consumption is dangerous. If you consume alcohol when pregnant, it is safe to assume that the risks of birth defects, miscarriage, mental disorders and growth retardation increase the more a mother drinks. Frequency of drinking is also a factor. Even though moderate drinking is probably safe, not drinking at all is definitely the safest. In any case, any pregnant woman thinking about consuming alcohol during the pregnancy should consult her doctor.

It is well-known that heavy drinking can seriously affect the fetus. Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS) is much more likely to occur when a woman drinks heavily and often. FAS is also more likely to occur when the woman drinks frequently, not just excessively. Some of the symptoms of FAS include skeletal abnormalities, including an abnormally small head or skull, a malformed heart, retarded growth, and mental disorders.

If you are unable to stop drinking heavily, are considering pregnancy, or think you might be pregnant, it would be wise to consult your doctor immediately to find out what type of support you can receive so you can cut back on alcohol and protect your baby. The risk of FAS is reduced considerably if you drink moderately, as in one to two glasses of wine on occasion. Alcohol isn’t the only factor to consider in your baby’s health. Tobacco and drug use, your diet, your overall health and a number of other factors are all very important in determining the ultimate health of your baby.

Pregnancy and alcohol are generally not a good mix, but if you exercise common sense and moderation, it shouldn’t be a problem. It’s not completely unsafe to consume alcohol while pregnant, but it’s probably best to consult your doctor and figure out how to best adjust your entire lifestyle to make sure your pregnancy is a healthy one.

Unemployment figures are not encouraging these days. If the current financial woes are not corrected soon, experts predict more job losses on the horizon. You can read other articles on how US jobs will be affected. My concern is that many more families may lose their health benefits when they lose their jobs.

Of course, most of us have heard of COBRA laws. This law provides for the continuation of a group health plan for several months after a job loss. However, not all companies fall under the COBRA laws, so not every employee is protected. In addition, covered employees will probably find out that their premium will be much more expensive. This is because the company does not have to contribute to the plan any longer, and the ex-employee will be responsible for the entire amount. I have talked to many people who lost their jobs, and they were shocked to see just how much their company had paid for their health insurance. It would not be unusual for an employee contribution to jump from a few hundred dollars a month to over a thousand dollars a month.

Another option is to look at individual health insurance plans. For healthy people, especially fairly young people, premiums can be more affordable than group rates. This is because the companies are usually allowed to cherry pick their customers, and so they only have to take people who are healthy. That way, they can keep the rates low. Some minor health conditions may cause a higher premium, while major health conditions can result in declines though.

So I would always advise a person with health issues to try to keep their group coverage if they can. However, I would advise a healthy family, especially one in their 30s or 40s, to compare individual health insurance rates. An exception to that would be a case where the mother of the family may become pregnant, or already is pregnant. Many individual health insurance plans do not include maternity coverage unless the pregnancy causes complications. In general, pregnant women will be covered better under a group health plan. In some states, individual health insurance companies will decline any family with a pregnant family member.

Now some states do have other protections for lower income families, or families with a pregnant females. It is worth looking into these plans if other options are not available or not affordable. Even though these plans are for lower income families, in some cases the income range goes into middle income. For instance, one state’s children’s health insurance program does cover pregnant mothers too.

Of course, another option is to try to find any job that offers health insurance, even if it is not the perfect job. In the best case, unemployed people would want to use their time to find a better job that suits their skills and personality. However, if you have a health problem that requires health insurance, it may be best to go out and get coverage by working in a lower paying job that includes a good group health plan. I think it is too bad that this is the case, but it may be reality for some people.

If you’re wondering how to stay in shape while pregnant, you are hardly alone. Staying healthy is extremely important as the healthier you are, the better able you’ll be to withstand both the effects of pregnancy and the rigors of childbirth. Fortunately, staying in good shape while you’re pregnant is a lot easier than you might think.

So what is the secret to staying healthy while you’re pregnant? It’s really no different than when you’re not pregnant…a good diet and plenty of exercise. The same things which help to maintain a healthy body in every day life work during pregnancy. Getting the proper nutrients, keeping your body toned and flexible, and treating your heart right are all essential to maintaining overall health.

When most doctor’s talk about how to stay in shape while pregnant, the first tip they give is to eat right. A balanced diet, rich in protein and fruits and vegetables will go a long way toward improving your health. Also, limiting fatty foods and foods with high sugar content will help you to avoid gaining too much weight. Just the same as when you’re not pregnant, snacking too much is not good for you and should be avoided.

One mistake most women make when it comes to eating during pregnancy is assuming that they need to diet in order to keep from gaining weight. Actually, dieting is the last thing you want to do while pregnant as diets which cut out specific food groups can be harmful to your baby. Remember, gaining some weight during pregnancy is normal. Simply maintain a sensible diet divided into several small meals a day and you should be able to keep weight gain at a reasonable level.

Another tip for how to stay in shape while pregnant is to try and limit cravings. Again, cravings are a normal byproduct of pregnancy but they can lead to unhealthy eating. Try and cut back on how much you indulge your cravings or find a healthy substitute for whatever food you may be craving. Eating several small meals a day should also help in cutting down on cravings.

Of course, the third main tip for staying in shape is getting the proper amount of exercise. Exercise is particularly important during pregnancy as it helps to improve muscle tone, relieve back ache, promote good circulation and increase stamina. With good, strong muscles and plenty of energy you should be able to handle labor and delivery, no matter how lengthy it may be.

There are many exercises which can provide an answer for how to stay in shape while pregnant. These include yoga, Pilates, dancing, swimming and walking. You don’t need to overdo, however. Most doctors recommend about 30 minutes a day to maintain good health. Make sure you avoid any exercises which could cause injury to the baby and be aware of any adverse reactions your body has to exercising.

Just because you’re pregnant doesn’t mean you can afford to get out of shape. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. Now more than ever, you need to stay fit and healthy for your own good and your baby’s. Make sure you eat right and get plenty of exercise while you’re pregnant and you’ll feel better for it in the long run.

There’s no need to go through your pregnancy feeling overweight, unattractive and lacking energy. There are many simple steps you can take to help you lose weight, feel great and exercise regularly.

It can be really frustrating if you’ve decided to have a baby and then find that things aren’t quite working out the way you planned. You’re waiting anxiously month after month in the hope of getting pregnant and yet, time is dragging on and nothing is happening. But for all of you who are having difficulties getting pregnant, there is good news around the corner.

It’s really important for you to know that there are a great many reasons why you and many other women can’t get pregnant as quickly as you’d like to. One of the main reasons is the contraceptive pill. If you’ve been taking one of these for a few years, then it’s going to take a good few months for its effect to wear off and get out of your system. So, say you stop taking it today, you can probably reckon with getting pregnant after 6 months to a year.

And are you feeling stressed in any way? It has been scientifically proven that women who are stressed either in their job or lifestyle in general, are likely to take longer to become pregnant. I remember that when I was first considering getting pregnant for the first time, I was well-advised to give up my job. Take a bit of time to reflect on what you could do without to help you relax more and focus on starting a family.

Did you know that when your immune system is suppressed, your chances of starting a pregnancy can be limited?

One thing that I didn’t know very much about as a younger woman was whether or not my ovulation was strong enough to allow a pregnancy to start. I began to keep a daily ovulation calendar to see what my hormones were doing at any particular time of the month. I would say that this is key if you are planning on getting pregnant as it can give you huge insight as to taking further steps. I found out quite quickly that my ovulation was very weak which meant that my hormones were not able to sustain a healthy pregnancy.

And how did I do this? This is what you do. Quite simply, you take your temperature every morning before you get out of bed and record it on a chart. Day one is the first day of your period. So keep recording for the first 10 or so days and the temperature will remain pretty constant. Around half way through the month, your temperature will begin to rise. This is an indication that ovulation is occurring and this is the best time of the month for getting pregnant. Your temperature should rise significantly and stay high. If a period is due, ie. you are not pregnant, it will drop slowly around day 26 until your period starts. If, however, an egg has been fertilized, your temperature will stay at that high.

And there’s something really important that you need to know about ovulation. If your temperature isn’t rising quickly mid month, then this is a sign that your ovulation isn’t very strong and your hormones are perhaps a bit out of balance and not ideal for supporting a pregnancy. But be prepared to fill in your ovulation calendar for a few months so that you can see what the general pattern is more clearly.

The great news is that there are very many natural herbal solutions which can balance your monthly cycle and strengthen ovulation. One of my favourites is vitex agnus castus which you have probably heard of as chaste berry. This is an amazing plant which can be used to greatly increase your chances of getting pregnant in a gently and natural way. I began to take it and saw my chart undergo a huge transformation with weeks. My ovulation became very strong and I got pregnant very easily as a result.

You can take chaste berry on its own or even better, blended in with many other herbal extracts for a powerful synergistic concoction, boosting your immune system, maintaining optimum health and balancing your hormones.
